Emoji applications are being removed from the App Store

You know what emoji are right? These small faces that compares when you do for example colon and bracket. Apple started sending email to developers to announce that if their apps do nothing more than enabling emoji on the iOS keyboard, they are gonna to be removed from the App Store because they will be no longer in compliance with App Store Review Guidelines. Here’s an example:

We are writing to let you know your app, [redacted], has been removed from the App Store because it is no longer needed to unlock Emoji.

Since iOS 6 now provides Emoji support to all users, your app is no longer in compliance with the App Store Review Guidelines

2.12 Apps that are not very useful, are simply web sites bundled as apps, or do not provide any lasting entertainment value may be rejected

If you have questions about the removal of your application, please contact App Review at app review@apple.com. Please include the App ID and the name of your application in your email.

Thank you and best regards,

App Review

Doesn’t looks like a good news for a small number of developers. Though the reason for this huge removal is that iOS 6 already provides emoji support, so users don’t have the need to install these types of app. On my part I don’t think it’s a so big loss, but you have to consider that in order to show emoji you have to know how you can show them.
